How Can I Know God?

Thanksgiving:
What a year it has been ! It is hard to realize the year is almost over until I realize I have been in nine states over the past six months with multiple seminars and services in most of them. Besides these, I have been privileged to conduct radio interviews all over the U.S., reaching people who have never heard about marriage being a covenant for life.
For this we give thanks to the Lord. Thanks for His faithfulness, His leading, the open doors, the scores of hearts that have responded at the hearing of His truth. We give thanks for those of you who have joined with us in this ministry, in prayer, encouragement and financial support, without which there would be no outreach.
We are so thankful for God’s faithfulness to encourage us over and over again when circumstances would have given us reason to become discouraged. Sometimes it came in the form of a phone call or a note, or a letter, or a gift, but although never sought, always provided by our Faithful Shepherd. I am so thankful I serve a God who can speak to the hearts of His own, quietly, yet clearly, and for those same hearts who have been obedient to respond to His prompting, by delivering comfort and support to us. We Thank the Lord!
We trust you are thankful that we live in a nation that still sets aside one day each year for national thanksgiving to Almighty God for His manifold mercies we enjoy from His hands.
Although we as a nation have not honored God as we should, we as individuals are privileged to stand in the gap for our nation and thank God for His infinite longsuffering and mercy toward us.
I know many of us could make a list of reasons why we don’t feel thankful, but we have a choice; thanksgiving or murmuring. Romans 1:21 describes the sins of other Gentile nations: “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were THANKFUL.”
Thanksgiving started out in this nation for us to pause as a people and give thanks to God. Today, for many, it is a colorful holiday consisting of a long weekend proclaiming our prosperity, the gathering of our families, the lavish feasting, followed by football on television. Many of our citizenry are offended at the suggestion that this Fall holiday has religious significance. To them it is the interlude between the seasons of leaf-raking and show-shoveling.
How wonderful it would be if every American would sit down quietly and read or listen to someone read the one hundredth Psalm. It could change our nation.
If Christians only realized how much thanksgiving pleases God. Psalm 50:23 says; “Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me.” Genuine thanksgiving can only emanate from a humble heart that acknowledges, as did the Psalmist David, in IChronicles 29:10 - 14; “...David said, Blessed be thou, Lord God of Israel our father, forever and ever. Thine O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honour come of thee and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name. But who am I, and what is my people that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? For all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.”
Our prayer is that each of you will join with your families this Thanksgiving day and make time to give thanks unto the Lord. We will be giving thanks to Him for each of you who have been a part of this ministry this past year. May God’s richest blessings be yours. May you know the bible teaches when the rewards are handed out, you will receive compounded interest for every investment you made to allow this ministry to go forward. Paul said in Romans 10:15; “how shall they preach except they be sent.” We have preached because you sent. Thank You from the bottom of our hearts! Joe & Pat Webb
